"This Little Light of Mine" was one of Fannie Lou Hamer's favorite songs. Her life and work were the inspiration for the new musical Fannie Lou, which premiered October 2012 in New York City. The music set for downloading here is a unique take on "This Little Light of Mine." The legato beginning is thoughtful and introspective. The folkish middle portion is upbeat, with staccato strokes. The latter third takes on another varied personality, with doubled, flattened and bended notes.
